Happy Birthday Dr. Abasi Ene-Obong was born on the 21st of June 1985 and is the founder and CEO of 54gene, an African genomics company building the world’s first pan-African biobank. Born in Nigeria, Abasi has extensive experience operating in the US, UK, and Nigerian healthcare industries.
Abasi Ene-Obong started his education in Nigeria, securing his O’level. He obtained his master’s degree from Imperial College London in Human molecular genetics. He also bagged an MBA from Keck graduate institute in BioScience management.
He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Barts and the London school of medicine and dentistry focusing on Cancer Biology/medicine from the University of London. He worked in London for a while before returning to Nigeria.
Before 54gene, Abasi worked with leading healthcare organizations, including Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies, academic and research institutions.
Previously, Abasi worked as a cancer researcher and published a seminal paper on pancreatic cancer immunology in the journal, Gastroenterology.
Abasi Ene-Obong is the husband of Ini Dima Okojie. They met on Instagram through a very uncanny situation. She was ranting on her Instagram about not finding her favorite chocolate (Maltesers) in Lagos, and the next thing she knew, she got an email from a guy in London sending her a bag full of Maltesers.
After that incident, they dated for a while and finally got married on May 21, 2022. Her wedding caption reveals the amount of love they share and are ready to fight for everything together as a couple.
