Ameh, although a native of Idoma in Benue State, was born and raised in Ajegunle in Lagos State, Nigeria.
Ameh received both primary and secondary school education in Lagos state but would eventually quit school at age 14.
Ameh In 1995 officially became part of the Nigerian movie industry Nollywood and received her first movie role in 1996 when she played the character Anita in the movie “Domitila” a movie that eventually became a successful and solid project. The movie was produced and directed by Zeb Ejiro. Ameh was also featured in the Nigerian Tv series titled The Johnsons which also become a successful project that received awards.
Ada Ameh speaks Idoma, Ibibio and Yoruba very fluently and also speak a little of the Igbo language. Ada Ameh has acted in more than 100 Nollywood movies which include Domitila, Aki na Ukwa, Ghana Must Go, 30 Days in Atlanta, True Love My Foot, The Johnsons, Blood Money, Atlas, Phone Swap, etc. She always plays the role of a mother and sometimes acts like a comedian in several Nollywood movies alongside top Nollywood celebrities.
Ameh has a daughter whom she gave birth to at age 14. The daughter died in October 2020
